The Friday night parties always left our homes and our
beautiful fancy upholstery in a mess. That mess is overwhelming sometimes when
you are in no mood to clean it up. Experts are always there to help you clean
your mess and make your house bloom like a flower.
Sharing some of the self-used steps for cleaning
upholstery.
With these steps, you can pick yourself up on stubborn
stains to help you remove those tough upholstery.
Step 1: Before
going to clean your upholstery check for its care label which you can find on
its backside. Read all the instructions given for its cleanliness and
maintenance. You are lucky if you found out that the upholstery covers and
cushions are hand wash. Otherwise, call the expert. For washing at home, use
lukewarm water for light-colored fabric and cold water for dark-colored
fabrics.
Step 2: Use the
cleaning solvent which is perfectly made for your upholstery fabric. Some solvents
leave marks on the fabric and to avoid the mistake, go for a spot test. Every
solvent is not 100% fool-proof.
Step 3: Before beginning the cleaning process, gather all the
equipment which you will need in the cleaning process. Equipment like a wet/dry
vac, brush, liquid dish wash, bucket, water supply, and electric power, etc. If
you will have all the things needed for cleaning the process will be easy to
carry on.
Step 4: Use pre-vacuuming to remove any dirt particles or dry
solids before giving spot treatment. As the dry and loose particles are easy to
remove before dish treatment.
Step 5: Make sure to not tear the fabric of your upholstery while
the cleaning process. Extract the soil from the surface of the upholstery from
every corner.
Step 6: The loose dust particles are washed away with clean water.
As the already loosen particles get along with water otherwise there are
chances it can stick on the upholstery without the extraction process.
Step 7: Special liquid dish washes are then applied onto the
surface. Read all the ingredients and labels on the backside of the dishwasher
bottle to ensure it is made for your fabric only.
Step 8: Using a clean and soft bristle brush, scrub lightly the
upholstery in one direction. Avoid using a hard brush as it may tear the fabric
and damage your upholstery.
Step 9: With the help of a neutralizer maintain the pH balance of your upholstery as it will
keep your fabric soft and fresh.
Step 10: Let the
fabric dry by itself or use high voltage fans that can make your task easy.
Step 11:Look for any remaining spots or dirt and repeat the process if necessary.
“Add-on:
Try to clean your upholstery once in two months. Clean it immediately after
your house party or you sprinkle liquid or food on the upholstery.”
